From 1985 is Captain Morgan manufactured by Serrales.
Up to 2000 was company owned by Joseph E. Seagram & Son, now is owner UK based company Diageo.
The question of who will retain ultimate control of Seagram’s Captain Morgan dark rum–whether British drinks giant Diageo PLC or Puerto Rican distiller Destileria Serralles–is still up in the air.
In addition to White and Gold Don Q and premium El Dorado rum bottled in Mercedita, Serralles ages and bottles Palo Viejo, Ron Llave, Ron Granado, Ronrico, and Captain Morgan in Camuy. (The latter under a manufacturing agreement with Seagrams.)
Captain Morgan Rum Moving To St. Croix
With a 10 to 5 vote, the Virgin Islands Legislature has approved a massive deal with Diageo that will move production of Captain Morgan's Rum from Ponce, Puerto Rico to St. Croix in 2012.
USVI Governor John P. de Jongh Jr. hailed the Diageo decision as the biggest investment in the USVI in 50 years. But the five voters against the pact, all from St. Croix, indicated that opposition to the deal is strong.
