History

Myers Rum Company Ltd. is based in Nassau, Bahamas.

Fred L. Myers's & Sons has been producing Myers's Original Dark Rum since 1879, setting the standard for quality in authentic Jamaican rums. Made from 100% pure Jamaican molasses at the Monymusk Distillery in Southern Jamaica.

Up to 2000 was company owned by Joseph E. Seagram & Son, now is owner Diego plc.

Fred L Myers & Son Co whose Myers's Rum, Platinum White and Golden Rich were produced at Arecibo and labelled 'Puerto Rican Rum'.

In 1937 the firm [Edwin Charley] was acquired by Fred L Myers & Sons and 'Charley's White Label' went off the market.

There were always 65,000 forty-gallon barrels of rum at the Seagram UK processing plant at Speke, Liverpool, and the storage centre at Huyton. ... Their supplies came mainly from Guyana and Jamaica, but also in small amounts from Barbados, Hawaii, Mexico and Puerto Rico. The rum was diluted and made up into various blends, put into bottles on which labels were put with such names as `Captain Morgan' (the most in demand), `Woods', 'Myers', `Old Charlie' and `Tropicana'. A 'Myers' for the UK market differed from the 'Myers' sold in Germany. Different blends of each brand were made for Britain, Germany, Australia and Italy. 'Myers Confectionery' was bottled for the culinary market.

In 1955, they (Seagram) bought Myers's, Jamaicds largestselling brand.
