History
The Hatuey name was taken from the name of a brave cuban indian chief who was a rebel leader
in arms against the cruel spanish colonization .Hatuey was captured by spanish troops and was
sentenced to die on the bonfire. His finals words are legendary in Cuba's history. When asked
by an spanish priest to become catholic ,because that way after he die he would go to heaven,
Hatuey asked, are these cruel white men also going to heaven when they die ? , after the priest
said yes ,Hatuey quickly replied, 'then I don't want to go to heaven !'.
