History

Company was established in 2004.

A project team representing the collaborators was formed in August 2002. After studying various rum-making techniques and following many back-and-forth research and observatory visits between Okinawa's main island and Minamidaito, Grace Rum Co., Ltd. was born on March 1, 2004. Headquartered on Minamidaito and with a branch office in Naha City on Okinawa's main island, the company set out to light the rum world on fire.

A factory was established at the former Minamidaito Airport site, thus production began on Grace Rum's three distinct products. A 20-year veteran distiller was brought aboard to oversee production, a process that requires meticulous attention to detail.

According to Kinjo, 35, "Corcor" combines the English words "coral" and "corona," as the island is formed out of coral reef and is shaped like a corona. While most Caribbean rum is aged in barrels and colored amber, Corcor is aged in a tank, and is a clear liquid.

Grace Rum now produces 5,000 bottles of Corcor a month.
