History
The Joint Stock Company Aromka Brno continues the rich and long-standing tradition of a factory that had been founded in 1829 by Mojzis Horowitz in Rousinov u Vyskova. The factory dealt with cultivation and wholesale of various seeds, especially fennel, caraway, aniseed and coriander. Soon there was established a seed essential oils production by means of a steam distillation.
In 1870s the company moved to Brno where the assortment was enriched by the alcoholic essences, in particular the rum essence which meant something unique at that time. The production range was further extended by fruit processing for fruit juices production and sugar coloring production.
After the World War the company adds to its production range new types of aromatic and gustatory substances, and fruit wine and liqueurs manufakturing. Co-operation with the Dupuis Fils & Co Company from the Charente region in France laid the foundations of a French –type cognac production. World War II severed co-operation with company but after its end production was restored and the cognac carries the brand name Dupuis.
After the war the company was nationalized, since 1948 it became the main production plant of the Aromka Brno State Enterprise.
The Joint Stock Company Aromka Brno has been established by the National Property Fund of the Czech Republic as the only incorporator, and for an indefinite period of time. The Company was incorporated in the Company Register as of 1 Jan 1994 .
The Company has been a member of the Chamber of Commerce in Brno , the Professional Association of Legal Entities of Canning and Distilling Industry, and the Spirit Manufacturers Union of the Czech Republic .
