SANGSTER, Ian, B.Sc. (Hons.), Ph.D.; Director of Research Sugar Industry Research Institute (Factory Technology Division) since 1974. Managing Director Dr. Ian Sangster & Company Limited - Producers of Sangster’s Old Jamaica Spirits. Organizations: Jamaica Association of Sugar Technologists; West Indies Sugar Technologists Association, Caledonia Society of Jamaica. Born: Leith, Scotland, son of Robert Sangster and Elizabeth McQueen-Sangster (dec’d). Educated: Leith Academy, Edinburgh University, Hamburgh University. Located high up in the Blue Mountains, Sangster's was created in 1974 by Scottish immigrant Dr Ian Sangster. They age and blend their own fine rums plus a range of exotic, rumbased liqueurs using home-produced natural essences and extracts.

Freelance blender Dr Ian Sangster, who bought spirit from various distillers on the island through the Pool, continued his independent making of Drambuie-style liqueurs and `O1d Jamaica Gold de Luxe Rum'.
