Historie
Beenleigh Rum Distillery byla založena roku 1884.
Robert Johnston se stal v roce 1864 prvním evropským osadníkem v této oblasti. Následující rok přišli do této oblasti dva muži, John Davey a Frank Gooding, a založili farm, kterou nazvyli Beenleigh (podle jejich rodiště v Devonu v Anglii.)
Vzhledem k blízkosti přístavu Moreton Bay se stal okres významnou a rychle rostoucí cukrovarskou oblasti. První cukrovar postavili Davey a Gooding v roce 1867 a už 1885 bylo v okolí 30 cukrovarů.
Jejich lihovar vybudovaný na lodi SS Walrus se stěhoval od jednoho cukrovaru ke druhému a zpracovával vedlejší produkt při výrobě cukru - melasu.
Lihovar Beenleigh Rum Distillery byl postaven v roce 1884. Je to nejstarší dodnes pracující lihovar v Austrálii.
Francis Gooding a John Davy založili svou farmu v roce 1861 a pojmenovali ji Beenleigh. Vysázeli cukrovou třtinu a postavili cukrovar který pojmenovali Beenleigh Sugar Mill.
Jedinou možností dopravy mezi Beenleigh a Brisbane byly po mnoho let říční parníky. Poslední ale připlul v roce 1868.
V roce 1871 si John Davy a Francis Gooding pořídili plovoucí lihovar. Loď nazvaná Walrus (mrož) byla postavena roku 1869 v Clevelandu. Cestovala 3 roky nahoru a dolů po Logan River a Albert River. Po stroskotání lodi na mělčině v roce 1884 získal licenci lihovar Beenleigh Rum a pracuje dodnes.
V Beenleigh byl poprvé vyroben rum v roce 1860 plovoucí palírnou na řece Albert. Loď patřila místnímu majiteli cukrovaru, který se později přesunul destilační kotel na současné místo.
V roce 1917 převzala lihovar firma Beenleigh Rum Pty Ltd. Vzhledem k poklesu spotřeby rumu v Austrálii byla výroba v roce 1969 ukončena. Obnovena byla opět v roce 1972.
Společnost Tarac převzala v roce 1982 Beenleigh Rum Distillery v Queenslandu .
Lihovar se v období 1969-1972 a 1999-2004 odmlčel.
